LUCA Covrigi

LUCA (Simigeria LUCA) is one of the largest and most recognizable bakery and pretzel chains in Romania, widely celebrated for its freshly baked 'covrigi' (traditional Romanian pretzels, often filled or topped with seeds, chocolate, or cheese), savory pastries, and sandwiches.

Founded in 2010 in Bacău, Romania, by entrepreneurs George Adragăi and Cosmin Postole, the chain quickly expanded across Romania, dominating high-foot-traffic transit hubs and downtown areas before branching out into international European markets such as Poland. The fresh baked goods sold under the LUCA name are prepared on-site or produced via local central dough manufacturing units within the markets where their stores operate.

LUCA is owned and operated by the Romanian hospitality and food service firm Tinervis Group SRL. While LUCA simigerii operate predominantly in Central and Eastern Europe and do not currently have direct brick-and-mortar storefronts in the United States, Romanian diaspora markets and specialty import retailers in the US occasionally reference the brand when sourcing traditional covrigi recipes and bakery goods.
