Immich photo management software

Immich is a popular self-hosted, open-source backup and management solution for photos and videos, created as an alternative to proprietary cloud photo services. Originally started in 2022 by developer Alex Tran, Immich gained rapid adoption within the global tech and homelab communities for its high-performance mobile and web interfaces, automatic facial recognition, and machine-learning search features.

In 2024, the Immich core development team joined FUTO, an organization dedicated to supporting open-source software and technology that respects user freedom and privacy. Under FUTO, Immich continues to be actively maintained by its creators while receiving financial and infrastructural backing to ensure long-term sustainable development.
