Libby's Chickpeas

Libby's is a historic American food brand founded in 1868 in Chicago, Illinois, by Archibald Libby and his partners. Originally famous for canned meats and fruits, the brand expanded widely across canned food staples.

Over the decades, ownership of the Libby's trademark was fragmented geographically and across different food categories. While Nestlé acquired the original parent business in 1970, various manufacturing and distribution rights have been licensed worldwide. In North America and various international grocery markets, the canned fruit and vegetable lines have been operated by entities including Seneca Foods. Many European-distributed and imported canned legume products under the Libby's Chef Luigi badge are produced in Italy.
