Rain-X Automotive Care Products

Rain-X is a globally recognized automotive care brand famous for its hydrophobic surface treatments, windshield wiper blades, and glass cleaners. The underlying hydrophobic technology was developed in the early 1970s by Howard G. Ohlhausen, leading to the creation of the Unelko Corporation, which popularized the original Rain-X formulation.

Over the decades, the brand was acquired by major automotive chemical manufacturers, passing through Quaker State, Pennzoil-Quaker State, and Shell. In 2011, Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW), a multinational Fortune 200 industrial manufacturer based in Glenview, Illinois, acquired the brand. Today, Rain-X is operated under ITW's Global Brands automotive care division.

Rain-X products sold in Europe and Germany are manufactured across multiple facilities in the United States and Europe, supported by ITW's regional subsidiaries, notably ITW Global Brands and ITW Permatex entities across the continent.
