Large industry players like Lerøy Seafood Group or Mowi often handle large-scale distribution, but the 'Stockfish from Lofoten' designation is protected by a Geographical Indication (PGI) in the European Union, ensuring that only fish processed in specific traditional regions can carry that prestigious title.
