Poole Pottery is one of England’s most celebrated ceramic brands, known for its distinctive hand-painted designs and vibrant glazes. Originally founded in 1873 by Jesse Carter on the East Quay in Poole, Dorset, the company became a cornerstone of the British Arts and Crafts movement and later the Art Deco period. For over a century, the brand operated out of its famous Dorset factory, becoming synonymous with mid-century modern design and high-quality craftsmanship.

In the early 21st century, the brand faced financial challenges and underwent several ownership changes. Today, it is part of a larger portfolio of heritage British ceramic brands. While the original Poole quay factory closed, the manufacturing process remains rooted in England. Production was moved to Stoke-on-Trent, the historic heart of the British pottery industry, where it continues to produce artisanal collections such as the 'Living Glaze' range using traditional skills.

As of the current market landscape, Poole Pottery is owned by the Burgess & Leigh Ltd (trading as Burleigh Pottery) under the umbrella of Denby Holdings Limited. This ownership structure ensures that the brand maintains its premium status and British manufacturing heritage, preserving the unique techniques that have defined Poole Pottery for over 150 years.
