Vecchia Romagna Etichetta Nera Brandy

Vecchia Romagna is one of Italy's best-selling spirits and a hallmark of Italian brandy production. Its history dates back to 1820 when Jean Bouton, a descendant of a family of distillers to the French royal court, moved to Bologna, Italy. He founded the Distilleria G. Bouton & C., applying French distillation techniques to Italian Trebbiano grapes. The brand gained significant popularity in the 20th century, particularly for its distinctive triangular bottle which was introduced in 1939.

Today, Vecchia Romagna is primarily produced in San Lazzaro di Savena, near Bologna, using the 'Bouton Method' which involves double distillation in copper stills followed by aging in oak barrels. In 1999, the brand was acquired by Gruppo Montenegro, an iconic Italian company based in Zola Predosa (Bologna). Gruppo Montenegro continues to own and manage the brand, ensuring its Italian heritage remains intact while distributing it to international markets.
