Noomi Backhausen for Søholm Keramik - Ceramic Tile

This vintage ceramic wall tile featuring a bird motif was designed by Noomi Backhausen for the renowned Danish pottery company Søholm Keramik. These tiles were part of stylized series produced during the mid-to-late 20th century, characterized by their stoneware texture and earthy glazes. Noomi Backhausen (1938-2011) was one of the most prominent designers at Søholm, contributing to the firm's legacy of high-quality Danish modern design. Manufacturing took place at the Søholm factory located on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. Although Søholm Keramik closed its doors in 1996, its products remain highly collectible. As the original company no longer operates, there is no active ultimate owner in terms of a contemporary manufacturing corporation, but the brand name belongs to the history of the Bornholm pottery tradition.
