HMD mobile phone

HMD, also known as HMD Global, is a Finnish mobile phone manufacturer based in Espoo, Finland. The company was founded in 2016 by former Nokia executives with the goal of reviving the Nokia brand in the smartphone and feature phone market through an exclusive licensing agreement. Initially, the brand operated solely under the Nokia name, leveraging Nokia's heritage while outsourcing production to FIH Mobile, a subsidiary of Foxconn.

Over the years, HMD evolved its strategy, transitioning from solely licensing the Nokia name to launching its own HMD-branded devices. While the company is headquartered in Finland and performs significant research and design there, its manufacturing is primarily distributed across global facilities in China, Vietnam, and India to manage large-scale production costs and reach regional markets.
