Hofbräu München, often referred to as HB, is one of Munich's most historical and prestigious breweries. Its origins date back to 1589 when it was founded by William V, Duke of Bavaria. Originally established to supply the Wittelsbach court with beer, the brewery has evolved from a royal establishment into a world-renowned symbol of Bavarian brewing culture.

Today, the brewery is managed as the Staatliches Hofbräuhaus in München, a public enterprise owned by the Bavarian state government. All Hofbräu beers are brewed in accordance with the German Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) of 1516, which mandates the use of only water, malt, hops, and yeast. While the brand has global reach through international franchises of its famous Hofbräuhaus beer halls, the production remains strictly centered in Munich, Germany, ensuring the authenticity and heritage of the label.
