The brand's history dates back to 1952 when George Stephen Sr., an employee at Weber Brothers Metal Works in Chicago, invented the revolutionary kettle grill by cutting a metal buoy in half. Manufacturing and Logistics

While Weber is deeply rooted in American manufacturing—with its primary production facilities located in Huntley, Illinois—the brand utilizes a global supply chain. Many of its high-end gas and charcoal kettle grills are still manufactured in the USA using globally sourced components. However, certain model lines and various accessories are manufactured in specialized facilities in China and Taiwan to meet global demand and maintain competitive pricing.

Ownership and Global Presence

Weber-Stephen Products LLC remained a family-owned business for decades until a majority stake was acquired by BDT Capital Partners in 2010. After a period as a public company starting in 2021, BDT & MSD Partners took Weber private again in early 2023. Today, Weber continues to operate as a premier brand in the outdoor living sector, distributing its products to over 70 countries and maintaining its status as a leader in grilling technology and innovation.
