Viña Tarapacá Merlot

Viña Tarapacá is an iconic Chilean winery with a legacy dating back to 1874 when it was founded as "Viña de Rojas" by Francisco de Rojas y Salamanca in the Maipo Valley. Over the years, the winery underwent several name changes, including Viña Zavala, before becoming Viña Tarapacá Ex Zavala—named in honor of a lawyer nicknamed "The Lion of Tarapacá." This heritage is reflected in its commitment to quality and biodiversity, often referred to as the "Home of Biodiversity" due to its ecosystem-centered winemaking approach.

In 2008, the brand reached a new milestone by merging with Viña San Pedro to form the VSPT Wine Group. This group is currently one of the leading wine exporters in Chile and a significant player on the global stage. The ultimate ownership of the brand lies with Compañía de las Cervecerías Unidas (CCU S.A.), a major Chilean beverage conglomerate, which holds a controlling interest in VSPT Wine Group. The production and bottling are primarily centralized at the group's modern facilities in Chile, ensuring consistent quality for its international markets.
