Originally emerging as a premium, enthusiast-focused brand, it gained global recognition with the OnePlus One.

Manufacturing for the OnePlus 12R is centered in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, where the brand maintains its main assembly lines and quality control facilities. To cater to the massive Indian market, a significant portion of the production for regional units also takes place in India.

Historically part of the BBK Electronics conglomerate, OnePlus underwent a major corporate restructuring. Following the dissolution of the BBK holding structure in 2023, OnePlus officially merged its operations with OPPO. As of 2026, the brand is owned by Guangdong OPlus Holdings, which serves as the ultimate parent company for both OnePlus and OPPO, integrating their R&D, supply chains, and software development while maintaining OnePlus as a distinct consumer brand.
