In 2003, as part of a strategic shift, Bayer sold its household insecticides business—including the Autan and Baygon brands—to SC Johnson & Son, a family-owned American multinational based in Racine, Wisconsin. Today, Autan products sold in Europe and Spain are typically manufactured in SC Johnson's regional facilities, with Italy being a major production hub for the vaporizers and sprays found in the Mediterranean market.
