InPost was founded in 1999 by Rafał Brzoska in Kraków, Poland, originally as Integer.pl, a company focused on the distribution of advertising leaflets. In 2006, the brand officially launched as InPost S.A. to challenge the state-owned postal monopoly. The company's hallmark innovation occurred in 2009 with the introduction of its self-service parcel lockers, known as APMs (Automated Parcel Machines), which revolutionized the e-commerce delivery landscape in Europe by offering 24/7 accessibility.
The physical locker units are primarily manufactured in Poland, utilizing local engineering expertise to develop their hardware and proprietary software. As the company expanded its operations across the UK, Italy, France, and Spain, it became a leading player in the out-of-home delivery sector. InPost manages a massive network of over 60,000 automated points, significantly reducing carbon emissions by consolidating deliveries into single locations rather than door-to-door courier trips.
While InPost remains deeply identified with its Polish heritage, it is currently headquartered in Luxembourg and listed on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange. As of 2026, the company is under a complex ownership structure; following a public tender offer, a major controlling consortium was formed including PPF Group, Advent International, and FedEx Corporation. The brand continues to grow aggressively, having acquired significant logistics players like Mondial Relay in France and Menzies in the UK to solidify its position as Europe's premier e-commerce enablement platform.
