Giro is a prominent American brand founded in 1985 by Jim Gentes in Santa Cruz, California. The brand gained international acclaim for its innovation in lightweight, aerodynamic cycling helmets and later expanded into snow sports, offering goggles, apparel, and footwear. Giro operates with a focus on high-performance design and safety engineering.

While the brand's research, development, and industrial design have historically been centered in California at a facility known as 'The Dome,' the physical manufacturing of its products primarily takes place in specialized factories in China and other Asian hubs. This allows the brand to scale production while maintaining high technical standards for safety gear.

Over the years, the brand's ownership has transitioned through several major corporate entities. After being acquired by Bell Sports in 1996, it eventually became part of Vista Outdoor Inc. following a $400 million deal in 2016. In recent strategic realignments, Giro has been integrated into Revelyst, the precision-parts-and-outdoor-products segment spun off or established by Vista Outdoor to manage its high-performance gear brands.
