The 'Bal d'Afrique' scent, in particular, is a tribute to the African influence on Parisian culture in the late 1920s.

While the brand's creative direction remains rooted in Sweden, its high-end perfume and body care products are predominantly manufactured in France, the global center for luxury cosmetics. For years, Byredo grew as an independent house with support from investment firms like Manzanita Capital.

In May 2022, the brand was acquired by the Spanish fashion and fragrance giant Puig. This acquisition placed Byredo alongside other world-class brands like Carolina Herrera and Jean Paul Gaultier, providing the resources to expand its international presence while maintaining its boutique identity.
