Weltenburger Kloster is widely recognized as the oldest monastery brewery in the world, tracing its brewing tradition back to the year 1050 at the Weltenburg Abbey in Bavaria. While the brand is steeped in monastic history, modern production has evolved into a strategic partnership.

Since 1973, many of the Weltenburger Kloster beers have been brewed under license by Brauerei Bischofshof in Regensburg to meet higher demand while strictly following the original monastic recipes and the Bavarian Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot). The brand remains under the ultimate ownership of the Benedictine abbey, specifically the Weltenburg Monastery (Kloster Weltenburg), maintaining its deep cultural and regional roots in Germany.
