Salomon footwear and equipment

Salomon was founded in 1947 in Annecy, France, by François Salomon and his family. Originally a workshop producing saw blades and ski edges, the company transformed outdoor sports with innovations in ski bindings and eventually footwear. Over the decades, it evolved from a local Alpine craft shop into a global leader in trail running, skiing, and hiking gear.

Today, Salomon's production is distributed globally across multiple countries including Vietnam, China, and Romania, depending on the specific product line. Since 2005, the brand has been part of the Amer Sports portfolio, which also includes other iconic brands like Arc'teryx and Wilson. Amer Sports itself was acquired by a consortium led by Anta Sports in 2019, marking a new chapter of global ownership while maintaining the brand's French design heritage in Annecy.
