Clipper Teas was founded in 1984 in Beaminster, Dorset, United Kingdom, by Mike and Lorraine Brehme. The brand is well-known for being the UK's first Fairtrade tea brand and for its commitment to natural, organic, and ethical sourcing.

Today, Clipper is owned by the Dutch company Ecotone (formerly Wessanen). While many of the tea leaves and ingredients are sourced globally from regions like India, Africa, and Sri Lanka, the final blending and packaging still take place at their factory in Beaminster, Dorset. Ecotone is a leader in organic and vegetarian food products throughout Europe, focusing on biodiversity and sustainable nutrition.
