Marabou Havssalt Dark Chocolate

Marabou is one of Sweden's most iconic chocolate brands, founded in 1916 by Norwegian chocolatier Johan Throne Holst, who also established the Freia brand. The Marabou name was chosen for the Swedish market because the name Freia was already registered. For decades, it has been a staple of Swedish confectionery culture, famously known for its slogan 'Mmm... Marabou'.

While the brand has deep Swedish roots, it has been part of large international food conglomerates since the 1990s. Today, it is owned by Mondelez International, an American multinational. While some production still occurs in Upplands Väsby, Sweden, many Marabou products, particularly diverse sizes or specialized dark chocolate bars like Havssalt (Sea Salt), are manufactured in larger European facilities, predominantly in Poland, to supply the Nordic market.
