Salomon sports footwear and equipment

Salomon was founded in 1947 in Annecy, France, by François Salomon and his family. Originally a metalworking shop specializing in ski edges, the brand evolved into a global leader in outdoor sports equipment, including skiing, snowboarding, and trail running gear. The company is synonymous with mountain sports innovation and technical excellence.

While the brand's heart remains in the French Alps at its Annecy Design Center, its manufacturing is distributed globally. Most recreational footwear is produced in countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, and China, though high-end technical products and specific collections have seen production in France through advanced automated facilities.

Ownership of Salomon has changed hands significantly over the decades. It was first acquired by Adidas in 1997, then sold to the Finnish group Amer Sports in 2005. Today, Amer Sports—and consequently Salomon—is owned by a consortium led by the Chinese sportswear giant Anta Sports, which acquired the group in 2019.
