CaRu il Mirto is a premium artisanal myrtle liqueur produced by Orgosolo Liquori in the heart of Sardinia, Italy. The brand name 'CaRu' is a portmanteau derived from the surnames of the founders, Piera Cadinu and her husband Rubanu, and also carries the meaning of 'dear' or 'cherished' in the local dialect.
This specific 'Rombo di Tuono' edition features a label dedicated to the legendary Italian footballer Gigi Riva, nicknamed 'Rombo di Tuono' (Roar of Thunder), who is an icon for the Cagliari football club. The packaging is deeply rooted in the cultural identity of Orgosolo, a town famous for its political and social murals, which are often depicted on the brand's labels. The liqueur itself is crafted from wild myrtle berries hand-harvested from the Supramonte mountains, maintaining traditional Sardinian distillation methods.
Ownership of the brand remains with the original family-run business, Orgosolo Liquori, led by Piera Cadinu. The company operates as a boutique distillery focused on preserving the authentic flavors of the Barbagia region and the artistic heritage of its home town.
