Côte d'Or is one of the most iconic Belgian chocolate brands, founded in 1883 by Charles Neuhaus. The name is a reference to the Gold Coast, now Ghana, which was a primary source of cocoa beans for the manufacturer. The brand is famous for its elephant logo and rich, intense cocoa flavor profiles.

While its origins are firmly rooted in Brussels, the brand has undergo several ownership changes throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. In 1987, it was acquired by Jacobs Suchard, which later became part of Kraft Foods. Today, Côte d'Or is a flagship brand under Mondelēz International. Despite its global ownership, much of the core production continues to take place in Belgium, specifically at the factory in Halle, ensuring the maintenance of its traditional Belgian chocolate standards.
