Edet is a well-established Swedish brand specializing in hygiene paper products, including toilet paper, kitchen towels, and handkerchiefs. The brand's history is deeply rooted in the Lilla Edet paper mill, which was founded as a sawmill in 1881 and began tissue production in the 1950s. This mill is notable for being a pioneer in sustainable manufacturing, achieving zero-carbon tissue production.

Originally part of the Swedish company Mölnlycke, Edet became part of the SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget) group in 1986. In 2017, SCA split its forest products and hygiene businesses, leading to the creation of Essity as an independent, publicly traded company. Today, Edet is a core consumer brand under Essity's portfolio, primarily serving the Scandinavian and Benelux markets. Most of the production remains centered at the historic Lilla Edet facility in Sweden, although Essity utilizes a global network of mills to support its regional brands.
