Alpha Industries MA-1 Bomber Jacket

Alpha Industries is a globally recognized heritage brand, originally founded in 1959 in Knoxville, Tennessee, by Samuel Gelber. Initially established as a contractor for the United States Department of Defense, the company became legendary for producing iconic military outerwear such as the MA-1 flight jacket and the M-65 field coat. The signature bright orange lining seen in many of their jackets was originally designed to make pilots more visible to rescue teams in the event of a crash.

While the brand maintains deep roots in American military history and still operates a small facility in Knoxville, the vast majority of its commercial production has shifted overseas, primarily to China, to meet global demand. Despite these manufacturing shifts, the brand remains under the private ownership of the founding family, currently led by third-generation leadership.
