Palmolive is one of the world's most recognized household brands, with a history dating back to 1898. Originally launched by the B.J. Johnson Soap Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the brand was named after the two oils used in its signature soap: palm oil and olive oil. By the early 20th century, Palmolive had become the world's best-selling soap, supported by aggressive marketing that emphasized its premium ingredients.

In 1928, the company merged with the Colgate Company to form Colgate-Palmolive-Peet, which eventually became the Colgate-Palmolive Company in 1953. Today, the brand is owned by Colgate-Palmolive, a major American multinational consumer products company. Manufacturing takes place in numerous facilities worldwide to serve local markets across North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
