Côte d'Or Fondant - Puur Chocolate

Côte d'Or is one of the most iconic Belgian chocolate brands, with a heritage dating back to 1883 when it was founded by Charles Neuhaus. Its name is inspired by the Gold Coast (modern-day Ghana), which provided the cocoa beans for its signature recipe. The brand's logo, featuring an elephant, a palm tree, and three pyramids, is a tribute to its African roots and has become a symbol of premium Belgian chocolate craftsmanship.

While the brand originated in Belgium and still produces a significant portion of its chocolate in Hallle, Belgium, it has undergone several ownership changes over the decades. It was first acquired by Jacobs Suchard in 1987, which was later bought by Kraft Foods. In 2012, Kraft Foods split into two companies, and Côte d'Or became part of the snacking giant Mondelēz International.

Today, Côte d'Or is a key brand in Mondelēz's global portfolio, maintaining its reputation for high-quality dark and milk chocolate bars. Despite being part of a large American multinational, the brand maintains its cultural association with Belgium through its production facilities and adherence to traditional recipes that have made it a favorite in the Benelux region and beyond.
