Arnott's Tim Tam is a cultural icon in the world of snacks, originally launched in Australia in 1964. The Chewy Caramel variety featured in the image consists of two malted biscuits separated by a light chocolate cream filling and a layer of chewy caramel, all enrobed in a thin layer of textured milk chocolate. The brand was inspired by the British Penguin biscuit and named by Ross Arnott after the winning horse at the 1958 Kentucky Derby.
Historically an Australian family-owned business, Arnott's has undergone several ownership changes, reflecting the globalization of the food industry. After being acquired by the American conglomerate Campbell Soup Company in the 1990s, the brand was later sold to KKR, a global investment firm, in 2019. Despite these transitions in ownership, Tim Tams remain deeply rooted in Australian heritage with the vast majority of production still taking place at Arnott’s bakeries in Huntington Park (NSW) and Virginia (QLD).
