Filippo Berio is a historic Italian brand established in 1867 by Filippo Berio himself in Lucca, Tuscany. The brand has become synonymous with high-quality olive oil and is a household name across Europe and North America. While its roots are firmly planted in Italian tradition, the olive oils are often sourced from a variety of Mediterranean countries, including Italy, Spain, Greece, and Tunisia, to ensure consistent flavor profiles and supply throughout the year.

In terms of ownership, the brand transitioned from a family-run business to a global entity. In 2014, a majority stake in SALOV, the parent company of Filippo Berio, was acquired by the Bright Food Group, a major Chinese state-owned food and beverage multinational based in Shanghai. Despite this change in ultimate ownership, the company continues to manage its research, development, and production coordination from its long-standing headquarters in Italy.
