This is a Philips-branded remote control, commonly paired with smart televisions running the Android TV or Google TV platform. Based on the button layout including Netflix, YouTube, discovery+, and Tubi, it is a modern unit designed for streaming and smart functionality. Philips television products have a complex history; the brand originates from the Netherlands, founded by Gerard and Frederik Philips in 1891. While Philips remains a significant Dutch technology company (Koninklijke Philips N.V.), its television and audio-visual consumer electronics division is managed through a long-term licensing agreement.
Since 2012, the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of Philips-branded televisions and related accessories globally (outside of North America) are handled by TP Vision, which is a subsidiary of the Chinese-based electronics giant TPV Technology. In North America, the brand is licensed separately to Funai Electric. Most of these peripherals are currently manufactured in China to leverage large-scale electronics manufacturing hubs.
