Gatorade G2 sports drink

Gatorade was originally developed in 1965 by a team of researchers at the University of Florida College of Medicine to help the school's football players perform better in the heat. The name stems from the university's mascot, the Gator. After its initial success, the rights to the formula were sold to Stokely-Van Camp, which was later acquired by the Quaker Oats Company in 1983.

Today, Gatorade is a dominant force in the global sports nutrition market. Since the acquisition of Quaker Oats in 2001, the brand has been under the ownership of PepsiCo. While it was born in the United States, Gatorade is now manufactured in multiple countries across the globe to meet international demand, utilizing a network of bottling plants and distribution centers owned by PepsiCo and its regional partners.
