Caputo Flour, often referred to as 'Il Mulino di Napoli,' is a world-renowned brand synonymous with authentic Neapolitan pizza and high-quality baking. Founded in 1924 by Carmine and Pasquale Caputo in Capua, the mill was later moved to its current iconic headquarters in San Giovanni a Teduccio, Naples, in 1939. This strategic move to the port city allowed the family to select the best wheat arriving by sea, a tradition of quality control that continues to this day.
The brand has remained a family-run enterprise for three generations, currently led by Carmine and Eugenio Caputo along with their sons, Antimo and Mauro. The company specializes in producing specialized flours for professionals—such as pizza makers, pastry chefs, and bakers—using a slow-grinding process that preserves the starch and protein content of the wheat without the use of additives or enzymes. This commitment to the 'White Art' (l'arte bianca) has made Caputo the gold standard for pizzaioli worldwide.
All Caputo products are manufactured in Italy, primarily at their historic mill in Naples. The company maintains deep ties to its local territory while exporting to over 15 countries. Ownership remains entirely within the Caputo family under the legal entity Antimo Caputo S.r.l., ensuring that the traditional milling techniques and family values established a century ago remain at the heart of the business.
