The company was founded in 1975 by cousins Aloys Coppenrath and Josef Wiese, who combined their baking expertise to pioneer the frozen cake and bread market in Europe. In 2015, the family-owned company was acquired by the Oetker Group (Dr. Oetker), a global food giant based in Bielefeld, Germany. This acquisition marked a significant milestone, integrating the traditional bakery brand into one of the world's largest food conglomerates while maintaining the brand's reputation for quality and its established production sites in Lower Saxony.
