The Twix brand was first produced in the United Kingdom in 1967 at the Mars factory in Slough, originally known in mainland Europe as Raider for several decades before being standardized globally to Twix in 1991. The brand was developed and owned by Mars, Incorporated.

Today, Twix remains under the ultimate ownership of Mars, Incorporated, a major private American multinational food and confectionery giant headquartered in McLean, Virginia. In Europe and the Nordic region, including Sweden, Mars operates through regional subsidiaries such as Mars Danmark A/S or Mars Sverige AB, with European production primarily concentrated in factories located in Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK.
