Rama 100% Plant-Based Spread

Rama is one of the most recognizable margarine and plant-based spread brands in Germany and Central Europe. Originally introduced in Germany in 1924 under the name 'Rahma' by Margarine-Verkaufs-Union (later becoming part of Unilever), it was initially marketed as a butter-like alternative.

Over the decades, Rama established itself as a household breakfast staple across Germany. In 2017–2018, Unilever spun off its global spreads division, selling it to the private equity firm KKR, which subsequently established Flora Food Group (formerly Upfield). Under Flora Food Group, Rama reformulated its classic lineup to be 100% plant-based and dairy-free.

Today, Flora Food Group is headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and is the ultimate parent company of Rama. Production for the German market is primarily carried out in Europe, notably at dedicated margarine and spread manufacturing facilities in Germany (such as Kleve) and neighboring EU countries.
