Giesswein is an Austrian family-founded footwear and apparel brand headquartered in Brixlegg, Tyrol. Founded in 1954 by Elisabeth and Walter Giesswein, the brand originally built its name on traditional Austrian milled wool clothing and felt slippers. In recent years, Giesswein pivoted strongly towards sustainable merino wool athletic and casual sneakers, capitalizing on the natural temperature-regulating, antibacterial, and water-repellent properties of boiled merino wool.

Today, Giesswein remains privately owned and managed by the founding Giesswein family (Giesswein Walkwaren AG / Giesswein GmbH), led by the third generation. While product development, design, and certain specialized wool processing take place in Austria, large-scale assembly and manufacturing of their modern merino sneaker footwear lines are predominantly carried out with partner facilities in Vietnam and other international manufacturing centers under European quality control standards.
