Oral-B electric toothbrushes powered by Braun are a hallmark of oral hygiene innovation, merging American oral care heritage with precision German engineering.

The Oral-B brand originated in California in 1950, founded by periodontist Dr. Robert W. Hutson, who patented a gentler multi-tufted toothbrush. Meanwhile, Braun—founded in Frankfurt, Germany, in 1921—developed electric appliances and engineered oscillating-rotating electric brush handles.

In 1984, the Gillette Company acquired Oral-B (having already acquired Braun in 1967), creating the long-standing 'Braun Oral-B' collaboration. In 2005, multinational consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) acquired Gillette. Today, Oral-B powered handles and premium brush heads are primarily engineered and manufactured in Germany (notably in Marktheidenfeld and Kronberg), with distribution worldwide under P&G's global personal healthcare division.
