Tudor Car Battery

Tudor is one of the most recognized and storied automotive battery brands in Spain and broader Europe. Originally developed based on accumulator technology created by Luxembourgish-born engineer Henri Tudor in the late 19th century, the brand found significant industrial expansion across Europe. In Spain, Tudor was established industrially when Sociedad Española del Acumulador Tudor S.A. was founded in 1897 in Zaragoza, quickly becoming the premier domestic manufacturer of energy storage solutions and starter batteries for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and industrial machinery.

Today, Tudor operates under the umbrella of Exide Technologies, a multinational manufacturer and recycler of lead-acid batteries headquartered in Gennevilliers, France (following the corporate reorganization of its European operations). Production for the European market, particularly Spain and Southern Europe, is largely centered at prominent manufacturing and recycling facilities in Spain, such as the historic plants in Manzanares (Ciudad Real), Zaragoza, and San Esteban de Gormaz, alongside additional facilities across Europe.

While Tudor batteries are synonymous with automotive energy in Spain, the Tudor name is also famously associated in consumer goods with Tudor watches, a Swiss luxury watchmaker founded by Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf, which operates entirely independently in the horology industry.
