MapQuest is a pioneering American web mapping service that was originally founded in 1967 as Cartographic Services, a division of R.R. Donnelley & Sons. It transitioned into the digital space in the 1990s, becoming a household name as one of the first popular online mapping and driving direction providers. Based in Denver, Colorado, the platform became the dominant mapping site in the early 2000s before the rise of competing mobile navigation services.

Throughout its history, the brand has undergone several ownership changes. After being acquired by AOL in 2000, it eventually became part of the Verizon Media portfolio. In 2019, the service was acquired by System1, an American omnichannel customer acquisition marketing platform. MapQuest continues to operate as a digital tool for consumers and businesses, providing route planning and location-based advertising services under the System1 corporate umbrella.
