For many decades, the brand was part of the broader Peters Ice Cream portfolio, which has a long history in Australia dating back to the early 20th century. However, the ownership landscape shifted significantly in the 21st century. Peters was acquired by the European ice cream giant R&R Ice Cream in 2014, which subsequently merged with Nestlé's ice cream business to form Froneri.

Today, Connoisseur is owned by Froneri, one of the world's largest ice cream manufacturers. Froneri is a joint venture between PAI Partners and Nestlé, headquartered in the United Kingdom.
