Salrom is the commercial brand of Societatea Națională a Sării S.A., which is the sole salt producer in Romania. The salt is extracted from deep underground deposits located in various regions of Romania, such as Slănic Prahova, Ocna Dej, and Cacica. This specific product is recrystallized iodized table salt, refined to an extra-fine texture for culinary use.

The brand and its production facilities have a long history deeply rooted in Romanian mining traditions, dating back centuries. Today, the company is primarily state-owned, with a significant majority stake held by the Romanian Ministry of Economy and a minority stake held by Fondul Proprietatea. It remains one of the most important mining companies in Southeast Europe, ensuring the supply of salt for both domestic consumption and industrial export.
