FIMO is one of the world's most famous brands of polymer clay, renowned for its stability and versatility in crafts and professional art. The brand traces its roots back to 1939 when Kathe Kruse, a famous doll maker, developed a modeling compound that was later refined by her daughter, Sophie Rehbinder-Kruse, known as 'Fifi'. The name FIMO is a portmanteau of 'Fifi's Modeling clay'.
Since its market launch in 1966, the product has been synonymous with oven-bake clay. Today, the brand is owned by the German manufacturer Staedtler, a company with a long-standing history in writing and creative instruments. FIMO continues to be primarily manufactured in Germany, maintaining high quality standards for hobbyists, artists, and industrial designers globally.
