Parmentier is a historic French brand founded in 1883 by Hyacinthe Parmentier in Douarnenez, Brittany. Renowned for its quality canned seafood, the brand specialized in sardines and became a household name in France. Over the decades, the production has diversified geographically; while the brand maintains its French heritage, the sardines are predominantly sourced and canned in Morocco and Portugal to ensure proximity to fishing grounds and maritime sustainability, as indicated by the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) certification on the packaging. Ownership of the brand shifted in recent decades, and it is now part of the MW Brands portfolio, which was acquired by Thai Union Group in 2010.
