Moncler is a luxury fashion brand globally renowned for its high-end down jackets and sportswear. Originally founded in 1952 in Monestier-de-Clermont, France, by René Ramillon and André Vincent, the brand initially specialized in quilted sleeping bags and tents. It gained legendary status after providing technical gear for major mountain expeditions, including the first ascent of K2.
In 2003, the brand was acquired by Italian entrepreneur Remo Ruffini, who transformed it into a global luxury powerhouse and moved its operations base to Italy. While the creative and corporate heart of the company is Italian, manufacturing is distributed across Europe. Much of the high-volume production for the 'Main' collections occurs in Romania and Moldova, while high-end specialty pieces and limited editions are frequently produced in Italy to maintain the 'Made in Italy' luxury cachet.
