JOZO Salt & Pepper Extra Fine

JOZO is one of the most established salt brands in Europe, with roots dating back to 1929. The name "JOZO" is a Dutch portmanteau for Jodised Zout (iodized salt), reflecting its historical significance as the first brand to introduce iodine-enriched salt to the Dutch market to combat health deficiencies. The product featured is a specific blend of extra-fine vacuum salt and black pepper, designed for precise seasoning.

Historically, the brand was a cornerstone of the Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zoutindustrie (KNZ). Through various corporate mergers and acquisitions, it became part of AkzoNobel and later Nouryon (following Carlyle Group's acquisition of AkzoNobel's specialty chemicals). In 2021, the salt specialty division, including the JOZO brand, was divested to the French entity Groupe Salins (Salins Group).

The salt itself is primarily sourced from historic underground brine deposits in the Twente region of the Netherlands and Denmark. For this specific 'Salt & Pepper' blend, the high-purity vacuum salt is mixed with finely ground pepper and packaged in the Netherlands, maintaining a legacy of production in Hengelo.
