The STIGA WBE120 is a 123cc four-stroke petrol engine specifically designed for use in walk-behind lawnmowers. The brand STIGA has a heritage dating back to 1934, when it was founded by Stig Hjelmquist in Sweden. Today, the STIGA Group is headquartered in Castelfranco Veneto, Italy, following the merger and acquisition activities of the early 2000s that brought several iconic gardening brands—including Mountfield and Alpina—under one roof.

Technically, these engines are managed by ST. S.p.A. (formerly Global Garden Products), the parent manufacturing arm of the STIGA Group. While the engineering and design are led by Italian-based teams to ensure high standards of performance and emissions compliance (Stage V), manufacturing takes place across a global network. Core production facilities are located in Italy, Slovakia, and China, with most small-displacement utility engines like the WBE series being produced in specialized facilities in China and then distributed globally.

In the upcoming years, STIGA continues to be a private entity owned by Stiga C Sarl, focusing heavily on transitioning from traditional internal combustion engines to cordless, battery-powered 'ePower' technologies as part of its 2026 strategic business plan.
