TRESemmé is a long-standing hair care brand that was originally created in 1947 by Edna L. Emme at the Godefroy Manufacturing Company in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Named after the French for 'well-loved' and a play on the founder's surname, the brand was initially marketed exclusively as a professional salon treatment before expanding into the consumer retail market.

Today, the brand is owned by the British multinational consumer goods company Unilever. While TRESemmé was born in the United States, its manufacturing processes are distributed globally to serve various international markets. For the European and South American markets (as indicated by the Portuguese 'Cabelo Oleoso' text on the label), products are often manufactured in European facilities, notably in Poland, or in regional hubs across Asia and the Americas.
