Calvé is a historic food brand with deep roots in both France and the Netherlands. It was originally established in 1883 when the French company 'Huileries Calvé' began producing oils and sauces. A pivotal moment in the brand's history occurred in 1928 when it merged with the Dutch company 'Nederlandsche Oliefabriek' (NOF) to form Calvé-Delft. This entity later became a founding component of the multinational Unilever in 1930.

Today, Calvé is most famous for its mayonnaise, peanut butter, and variety of sauces including ketchup and mustard. While it is often considered a quintessential Dutch brand—particularly for its peanut butter (pindakaas) which debuted in 1948—it maintains a significant presence across Europe, including Italy, Spain, and Switzerland.

Manufacturing takes place in multiple locations across Europe to serve its diverse markets. Historically, production was centered in Delft, Netherlands, though modern supply chains involve various Unilever facilities internationally. The brand is currently owned by the British multinational Unilever PLC.
