Skyr is a traditional Icelandic cultured dairy product that has gained global popularity for its high protein content and thick, creamy texture, despite having zero fat. Piątnica was the first major brand to introduce this Icelandic-style yogurt to the Polish market, utilizing regional milk supplies from Podlaskie.

The brand is owned by Okręgowa Spółdzielnia Mleczarska w Piątnicy (OSM Piątnica), which is one of the most technologically advanced and successful dairy cooperatives in Poland. Unlike many corporate food brands, OSM Piątnica is owned by its member farmers, ensuring that its profits and operations remain rooted in the local Polish economy. Production is centered in Piątnica near Łomża, maintaining a strictly local supply chain and high quality standards for the domestic and export markets.
